Monday morning comes and many of us hit the pavement running ... work, chores, errands. A frantic pace begins.
Instead of greeting the day in a hurry, make a different choice. Set aside some time to quiet yourself. Sit, and engage the precious moment, a moment that will never come again.
Join me every Monday, when I'll provide a little pause, an original reflection to help you greet the day with grace and gratitude.
As you enter your day, take note of what you are feeling. Are you satisfied with that? Would you like to experience less of that feeling and more of another?
In our meditation practice we can harness the power of intention and yoke it to our breath to change how we're feeling.
For example, if I am beginning my day with nervousness, I can intend that I experience less of that and feel more confident instead.
I can then hold that intention in my heart and attach that intention to a series of inhales and exhales.
"I breathe in self-assuredness.
I breathe out doubt.
I breathe in confidence.
I breathe out nervousness."
And so on.
You can use this process with any mind state.
Our words have the power to heal us. When we take them in, match them to our breath which also has the ability to heal us, we have created a powerful conduit for well-being.
Of course, it does not have to be morning for you to engage this practice. Anytime of day, wherever you are, stop, pause, take note of what you're feeling, and if it's not good enough for you, breathe in what your heart desires and let go of the rest with the help of your breath.
And when you do, may peace of body, mind, heart and soul be yours.
