This is an excerpt from The Mindful Mommy's Back-to-School Survival Guide, but it's good advice for anyone when it comes to times of transition or life change. Keeping things in perspective is a wise way to bypass the ego and stay rooted in truth and calm. Everyone benefits when we do.
#5 of the 5 Majestic Mindsets for Thriving through Chaos:
5. “This too shall pass” is a wise mantra to keep in mind during Back-to-School time. Time is fleeting. What looms large right now or feels difficult may be over before we know it. Just ask any mother (like me) who awakens one day shocked to realize that there will be no more Back-to-School days in her life. No more school buses and volleyball games. No more picture-taking days and recitals.
Our children grow up more quickly than we can imagine, but when we are in the thick of child rearing, it can often feel like the days and weeks go on forever; as if we’ll be changing diapers or making lunches for the rest of our lives. When hardship calls, it’s good to remember that these times will not last. Before we know it, they will be over and done with, our children grown and gone and on to other things. “This too shall pass,” invites us to trust, be present, and live into the uniqueness of each experience. Life is good, even when it’s difficult because we get to be mothers, and nothing is more precious than that.
