Group Spiritual Direction/Guidance

Dear Friend,
Group spiritual direction/guidance is an expression of spiritual community. We gather once a month for two hours. Just as in private, 1-on-1 spiritual direction, a person comes to the relationship to share what is on their heart spiritually. There is deep listening, prayerfulness, and space for silence. We allow the Spirit to come through to show us the way to deeper insight, healing, peace. |

How Group SD/SC Works
Group direction (via Zoom) works in the same way. Each person has an allotted amount of time to share their spiritual journey of the moment. We listen deeply as a group. We ask clarifying questions. We sit in silence and create space for the Spirit to guide us. Each person offers the person a spiritual gift or insight gleaned from the time spent in silence. It is a time of holding, healing, and wholeness.
Personally, I love group spiritual direction! It was my very first experience of spiritual direction, offered at a challenging time of my life the support of kindred spirits was so helpful. I have been blessed to facilitate group spiritual direction for many years now and find it richly rewarding.

Once the group members have been determined, we put our schedules together and come up with a suitable time that everyone can meet on the same day and at the same time each month. For example, the 2nd Thursday at 3:00. (My schedule only allows me to host groups Mon. - Thurs. from 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m ET. No evenings, Fridays or weekends.) We meet on Zoom, camera on.
The group stays together for 9 mos. (generally Sept. - May). A group can hold 4-6 people. I facilitate and hold space for us, guiding us through the process. (I don't use this time and space for my own spiritual direction.) Depending on the number of people in the group, you get to present yourself each month, or every 2nd or 3rd month.
Members of a group make a commitment to one another to attend each gathering faithfully, to hold all that is shared in confidence, and to pray for the people in the group throughout the month. There is a moderate monthly fee for this service.
