Devotional Sadhanas

What is a Sadhana?

Picture
The term "Sadhana" (pronounced S'od-ah-na) means, "exertion towards a spiritual goal." It is designed to uplift you spiritually and also to uplift humanity.

A Sadhana is your spiritual practice. A Sadhana can also be the focus of your life, a theme of lifetime practice, one that enables you to access your deepest self to live in alignment with the Divine as you understand it.

Sadhana is found within the world's wisdom traditions including, Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism (yogic) traditions. It is a contemplative daily practice that may contain elements of silence, meditation, and prayer, among other elements. The Sadhanas I offer here are suitable for seekers of all traditions and none. They are inter-spiritual in nature, inter-contemplative in focus.

The way that I present Sadhana here is as a period of dedicated practice around a certain theme, which can be done alone or within sacred community, for a specific period of time. It is intended to increase devotion, providing liminal time and space for you to commune with your Self and Source. Sadhanas are known to accelerate spiritual awareness and clarity; increase peace, love and happiness; foster compassion and loving awareness of all Creation. We engage in Sadhana to illuminate and transform ourselves so we can be a healing presence in the world today.

Anthony DeMello describes Sadhana:

Sadhana,
a Sanskrit word rich in meaning and
challenging in its implications,
is vital to Indian spirituality.
It means an instrument,
a way to attain our goal,
the spiritual means we adopt,
the sacred path we walk.
Over the years this word has also meant for us
our inner quest, our being on the way,
our willingness to be led.
That is why we understand that Sadhana is
every means we employ
for finding inner freedom,
for attaining wholeness and integration
and for discovering the divine in all things and
all things in the divine.

Downloadable Sadhanas for you to enjoy ...

Over the years, I have created numerous Sadhanas  for people to enjoy online. These are now being bundled up into downloadable Sadhanas for your ongoing use. Each Sadhana contains written and audio elements; prayers, poems, and guided meditations for you to go deeper into devotional practice. There are invitations to reflect and journal too. Each Sadhana is oriented around a unique theme of practice and lasts 14-30 days.

The Sadhanas I offer hold the holy hope that you will renew your dedication to spiritual practice, deepen your devotion to the One, and strengthen your vow of service to humanity. May it be so!
