"Aging Gracefully & Gratefully"
(and if we're honest, with a little difficulty too)
A Spiritual Direction Retreat for Women
Saturday, Feb. 24 : 10:30 a.m.- 1:00 pm ET (Via Zoom)
Welcome to this meeting place~
Of contemplation, connection and deepening.
Of reflection, silence, and prayerfulness.
Of opening our hearts to the One for guidance and deep care.
I look forward to sharing Presence with you!
If you have journeyed with me before in a retreat setting, you will know that this "time in" will be rich. It will be supported through our communal and solo activities, including:
• Gentle conversation on the Spiritual Invitations of Aging
• Shared silence through prayer and meditation
• Reflective writing/creative exercise
• Experiences of Lectio Divina (praying with sacred words) and Visio Divina (prayer with images)
We will engage around the theme of "Aging Gracefully and Gratefully." It seems many of us find ourselves at this place of honoring or struggling with our aging process. Our culture holds many biases and misunderstandings about what it means to age. We may take these values on as our own creating more angst for ourselves.
Aging doesn't have to be a time of diminishment as our culture presupposes. It can be a time of deepening and expansion; of claiming our elder wisdom and bringing it to the world for healing and hope. Aging can host its challenges—among them loss and grief. But it can also bring forth ripened fruits of the Spirit:
• Insight
• Appreciation
• Joy
• Connection
• Courage and faith
• Delight in the present moment
• Loving wholeheartedly
• Humor, perspective and fun!

Sr. Joan Chittister writes: "Typically, the first half of life is spent accumulating and with the second half comes the stripping away. Babies grasp at everything; we clutch many things; as we age, if we are wise, we open up our hands and begin to let go; we melt into God.
The lesson is that the longer we hold onto our grasp the less happy our later years will be. Stripping down, getting down to essence is part of the aging process. It’s a beautiful thing. It’s a gorgeous thing." (Source: National Catholic Reporter, Nov. 2008)

On Saturday, Feb. 24, I will meet you in sacred community to explore the spiritual invitations of aging. We will trust what Spirit has in store for us as we willingly look deeper into our hearts and minds to transform what it means to age gracefully and gratefully. I'm delighted we will be coming together!
